SCAN Color in January Art Show & Sale opens, 8:30 am-6 pm, Lexington Gardens, 32 Church Hill Road, free, presentation by members of Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will continue through January 23, artist demonstrations each Saturday and Sunday at 12:30; 426-5063.

Penguin City at the Garage, doors open 7 pm, performance begins 7:30, Church Hill Road, middle school jazz quartet will perform at Newtown’s teen center.

Peter Obre at The Inn at Newtown, 9:30 am, 19 Main Street, free admission, acoustic guitar performance of originals and covers in restaurant’s tap room.

Color in January Art Show & Sale continues, 8:30 am-5 pm, Lexington Gardens, 32 Church Hill Road, free, demo in painting with oil by Melody Asbury at 12:30, also opening reception with many artists and co-chairs in attendance will be 2-4 pm, refreshments; 426-5063.
