UConn Plans 2009 Garden Conference

Storrs — The University of Connecticut is sponsoring the “Garden Conference” on Friday, March 13, at the University of Connecticut in the Lewis B. Rome Commons on the Storrs campus.

This all-day conference offers opportunities for gardeners of all skill levels.

Various speakers will discuss aspects of gardening: William Cullina, a nationally recognized speaker, expert on native plants, and author of numerous gardening books will discuss “dancing under a curtain of trees”; Mary Meyer from the University of Minnesota will discuss winning combinations with ornamental grasses; Lee Reich will discuss weedless gardening; Steve Aitken, editor of Fine Gardening, will be discuss plant combinations at work; and Len Giddix will speak about the geometrics of successful vegetable gardening.

Preregistration is $90 per person, or $80 if post marked on or before March 6. Make checks payable to the University of Connecticut and send to Richard McAvoy, Department of Plant Science, Unit 4067, University of Connecticut, 1376 Storrs Road, Storrs, CT 06269-4067. Registration is limited and nonrefundable; lunch, snacks, and beverages are included. Also enjoy opportunities to purchase selected autographed books, plus an array of gardening books.
