Family: My husband, Gus, is also my partner in the business. We have two children. Paige is 12 and at NMS, and our son, Christian, is 10 and at RIS.
Pets: We have a crazy Wheaton terrier named Coconut. She is 8 years old, but she is as exuberant as any puppy. And we have a parakeet. He belongs to Christian.
How long have you lived in Newtown? Halloween weekend made ten years. We had no idea what was going on on Main Street that year. We stopped unpacking boxes long enough to go trick or treating at a few houses on our street with our 2-year-old. It was awfully quiet in our neighborhood, just couple of blocks from Main Streetâ¦.
What do you like to do in your free time? I like to read, anything by Nicholas Sparks. And I love to be near the water. I like to catch up with friends and family when I have spare time.
What are you reading now? Itâs a book by Nicholas Sparks, and before that I just reread The Notebook by him. Itâs my favorite. I also finished a book on how to heal your headaches. Not exactly pleasurable, but useful.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? I love Cancun, Mexico. Iâve been a number of times. I love the color of the water, the climate, the people. Itâs a wonderful, relaxing place to be and more family friendly than I thought it would be.
What is the best thing about Newtown? It is very family friendly. Iâve loved raising our kids here. There are a lot of great people and family activities. Thereâs always something to get involved in. It has a real sense of community.
If you could travel to the past or future, which would you choose? If I think of the past, it seems a simpler time, but women didnât have rights. But the future seems a little scary, so I guess I would want to go back a few years to a simpler time, maybe 30 years ago. There was some technology, but not the stress we have now.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Never underestimate random acts of kindness. I try to teach this to my kids: hold the door for someone a little longer, help someone before they ask for help, look around a little. You never know what it will mean to someone.
Do you have a guilty pleasure? Dark chocolate. Iâm not picky about the brand, but I like good chocolate.
