Are Among The Celebrities Supporting The Arts
RIDGEFIELD â On Monday, January 19, at 7:30 pm, The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and The Performing Arts will be the location for of the second âRidgefield Magazine at The Ridgefield Playhouse Community Forum.â The program will be based on an article that appeared in magazine titled âBring on The Arts.â
The forum will consist of a panel discussion with actors Joanne Woodward, Christopher Plummer and Giancarlo Esposito, among others, who will be discussing the importance of supporting local arts organizations. The panelists will also answer questions from the audience.
The article, which can be found in the current issue of Ridgefield Magazine (Winter 2004), reports on how a thriving arts community can greatly improve a townâs condition by not only boosting the economy, but also enhancing its quality of life.
Joanne Woodward became involved with the arts in her town, Westport, by taking on the role of artistic director to The Westport Country Playhouse three years ago; Christopher Plummer, a resident of Wilton, is on the artistic advisory board of Westportâs playhouse; and Giancarlo Esposito is on the artistic advisory board for The Ridgefield Playhouse.
Also on the panel will be Harry Philbrick of The Aldrich Museum and Sabina Slavin, who not only serves as president of Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra but is also on Ridgefieldâs Arts Council as well.
