Gordon Macmillan Sr
Gordon P. Macmillan, Sr, 82, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 7, at the Atria Assisted Living and Memory Care Center, where he resided for the past year. Before then, Gordon resided in Newtown for 36 years and, after retiring, spent his time between Morris and Hebron, Conn., and Florida. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Rita (Lazzari) Macmillan, in 2013.
Born in New York City, Gordon was the son of the late Samuel and Mary “Molly” (McGuire) Macmillan. He was a US Marine Corps veteran, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. Gordon was the co-owner of the Macmillan-Webb Co and worked in the HVAC/Boiler industry for many years, retiring in 2004. He was the life of the party, a great story teller, very charming, and adored his grandchildren. Gordon will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gordon P. Macmillan, Jr, and Karen of Hebron; and his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Williams of Morris; five grandchildren, Hanna and Samuel Macmillan, Zachary, Nicholas, and Anthony Williams; two nieces, Stacey and Dale; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 1 pm, at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm.
