Michael Coady Allen

Lived Life Courageously

Michael Coady Allen, 55, of Danbury, died January 3, at Danbury Hospital, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 22, 1954, in Warren, Ohio.

He is survived by his parents, Fran and Peter Allen of Heritage Village, Southbury; and four siblings, including James Allen and his wife, Madeleine, of Newtown. He also leaves many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr Allen was predeceased by his younger brother, Jeffrey Allen, in 2007.

He was a highly accomplished pianist, vocalist, and musician. His passion for music stretched from leading his Wakefield, Mass., high school marching band to performing with the Greater Bostonians, the Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble, and at many venues from Boston to New York City. Mr Allen completed his major in piano and trumpet at Hartt School of Music at Hartford University and continued his piano studies in New York City. In addition to music performance, he was active in community theater and local radio, was an accompanist for various Hartford musical theater productions, and performed professionally in the wider region.

Mr Allen lived his life with tremendous courage and will be missed by all who knew him.  

A memorial gathering will be held at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North, Sunday afternoon, January 10, from noon to 3 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 2:30 pm. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Catholic Charities, 30 Main Street, Suite 503, Danbury CT 06810.
