Landscape Designers & Landscape Contractors:

The Odd Couple To Be Discussed By APLD-CT

WATERBURY — The Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD)/Connecticut chapter and Naugatuck Valley Community College’s Science Division will host a special presentation on Saturday, January 29, by Jody Shilan, who has experience as both a landscape designer and landscape contractor — an unusual combination. Mr Shilan will offer a lively and informative lecture and networking opportunity at NVCC, 750 Chase Parkway.

Landscape designers and landscape contractors can be the quintessential odd couple. It is sometimes difficult for the two entities to work in harmony with one another. Collaborating together as partners, however, can result in a finished landscape that exceeds expectations.

In “The Odd Couple … Landscape Designers & Landscape Contractors,” Mr Shilan will share his unique insights into what is needed for landscape designers and landscape contractors to understand about the other to their relationship less frustrating, more productive and more profitable for both parties.

Mr Shilan is an award winning landscape designer, design/build contractor and green industry consultant. He has a BSLA from Rutgers University and an MLA from the University of Massachusetts. He is an active board member of the APLD-NJ, NJLCA, PLANET (membership subcommittee) and BCC (Bergen Community College), where he is also an adjunct professor.

He is also the owner and editor of FromDesign2Build.com, a membership website for landscape design/build contractors, through which he uses his knowledge, background and experience to help other “green industry professionals” grow and improve their businesses.

The program will begin at 1:30 pm, and is free for APLD-CT members. Cost for the public is $10 in advance or a$15 at the door; send email to whitney@TrilliumOutdoorDesigns.com for reservations and additional information.
