Police said they held Simpson on $1,000 bail for a January 6 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.

At about 9:30 am on December 31 in snowy conditions, motorist Frank Magliocco, 50, of Alberts Hill Road, who was driving a commercial 2006 Chrysler southward near 32 Echo Valley Road, spotted a northbound oil tanker truck approaching, so he attempted to slow the Chrysler, but it went out of control on the snowy road and traveled off the left side of the street, striking a tree and pushing that tree into a stone wall, police said.

The Chrysler did not make contact with another vehicle, police said. Magliocco was not injured.

Police said they later learned of the accident from a resident of 32 Echo Valley Road who found the Chrysler at the end of his driveway without its driver present.
