Adult Hike At Devil’s Den

WESTON — Winter is a good time to see the landscape features at Devil’s Den Preserve. Rugged hills, massive rocks, trees, mountain laurel, and stone walls dot the nature preserve, which is located on the Weston-Redding border.

Trained natural history guides Mary Callahan and Frank Conway will reveal information about those features and the way people have used the land throughout history when they lead a hike for adults only on Tuesday, January 16, from 1 to 3 pm. The walk of two to three miles will highlight both natural and manmade features at the Den.

The preserve is owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy to promote biological diversity in plants and animals. Its unfragmented forest is an especially important breeding area for declining forest songbirds.

Reservations are not required for this hike, but participants may wish to call the Den office of 203/226-4991 weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm for further information or directions.
