Wheels For Kids

To The Editor:

On behalf of Newtown Rotary Club we wish to thank all the residents of Newtown and Sandy Hook who contributed to the recent “Wheels For Kids” project. This is the first year that the club has supported this event, and we were delighted to collect a total of 46 children’s bikes and tricycles, that were delivered to the Bethel-based Cycling Sports Group in time for the workshop day on December 10. The bikes were duly renovated and added to others collected from other towns in the area and delivered to Danbury Youth Services who found youngsters whose families could not normally afford these prized holiday gifts.

Subsequent to the workshop the club collected a further 24 bikes — these will also be renovated then stored for “Earn a Bike” administered by the Danbury Youth Services throughout the year.

Again, very many thanks to all the generous local residents, the club will be supporting this event in 2011.

Sincerely

Pat Caruso
