Searching For Maiden Names

 In Your Family Tree?

On Wednesday, January 12, The Genealogy Club of Newtown will host a presentation by Ray Maki, titled “Searching for Maiden Names.” The program will start at 7 pm in the community room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Mr Maki is one of the genealogy club’s founding members and has been conducting family research for more than ten years. His presentation will explain and demonstrate nine specific techniques used in one of the most difficult aspects of genealogical research. Beginner and veteran researchers can all benefit from Mr Maki’s tips for identifying the maiden names of the women in their family tree.

The Genealogy Club of Newtown meets on the second Wednesday of every month, September through June, at the town library. New members and visitors are always welcome.

The club’s February speaker will be Marian Wood, who will discuss how to use online message boards and blogs for genealogy research.

For more information about the club, call Harlan Jessup, 203-270-7887.
