Beatrice Carpenter Carley, 104, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Royal V. Carley, died December 16. Born in East Hampton, Conn., the daughter of Catherine and John Carpenter, she had been a Black Rock resident for most of her life.
She is survived by four sons, including Ross Carley, and his wife Geri, of Newtown; two daughters-in-law; a sister, Marilyn McEachern of Bridgeport; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Two sons and two brothers predeceased Mrs Carley.
She worked in the Dietary Departments at Griffin Hospital and Bridgeport Hospital, finally retiring as director of dietary services at Park City Hospital. An active member of Black Rock Congregational Church, she was a deaconess for 80-plus years. Her family and her church were primary in Mrs Carleyâs life.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Jewish Home for the Elderly for the outstanding and compassionate care provided to Mrs Carley during her stay.
A memorial service celebrating her life will take place Saturday, January 8, at 10 am, at Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Young at Heart Group, c/o Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield CT 06825.
