Police Seek Information On Mailbox Fires
Police are asking the public to help them solve who set a series of mailbox fires, which occurred across town late on the night of Wednesday, December 15, and the early morning hours of Thursday, December 16. The fires were set from about 10 pm December 15, to 6 am December 16.
The fires occurred on Aspen Lane, Evergreen Road, Country Squire Lane, and Thunder Ridge Road. The Evergreen Road and Country Squire Lane incidents were firebombings, police said. The other two fires involved someone stuffing flammable matter into a mailbox and then igniting it, police said.
There were no known injuries in the incidents. No mail was destroyed by the fires.
In all cases, the mailboxes were freestanding and well away from houses, police said.
The incidents represent cases of criminal mischief. Police ask anyone with information about the fires to contact them at their anonymous tip line at 270-8888.
