Moms Groups

Newborn to 12 months — Tuesdays, 10:30 to 11:30 am beginning January 25

Walkers to 18 months — Thursdays, 10:30 to 11:30 am beginning January 27

These groups run for 10 weeks and the cost is $25.

Gym Time will begin on Wednesday, January 26, from 10 am to noon; the cost is $30.

Moms of Multiples will begin Friday, January 28, and will meet monthly at the Meeting House from 10 to 11 am. There is no charge for this group.

Attention High School Students — Community service opportunities are available. Hawley and Middle Gate schools are looking for volunteers to run some afternoon classes. Offerings include sports card collecting, scrapbooking, musical theater, photography, and origami. If you have an interest or talent in any of the above areas and would like to donate your time, call NYS.

Parent Programs

Newtown Parent Connection — The next Parent Connection forum on Wednesday, January 19, at 7 pm, in the Newtown Middle School auditorium will feature substance abuse expert Wendy Davenson. Ms Davenson’s presentation, “The Impact of Family Dynamics on Children and Their Behavior,” will discuss how family dynamics affect the entire family. Topics covered will include family communication, parental arguing/loving, parental substance abuse/use and parents who cannot parent as a team. Hope and Support Group — Parents with questions or concerns about your child’s possible or confirmed involvement with substances are invited to attend the Hope and Support group. It meets Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm in the Parents’ Corner. All are welcome.

Youth Programs

Super Sitters — Please wait for the class schedule for 2005.

MSYAB — will meet on Wednesday, January 19, from 2:15 to 3:15 pm. We will begin work on our “bunnies” project.

NYCAAP — An AIDS awareness group for high school students; meets Wednesdays at 7:30 pm.

NOSUDS — Will meet on Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

Children of Divorce — Grades 1 through 6, meets first and third Monday of the month. Due to school holiday, the next meeting will be January 24 from 6 to 7:15 pm.

SibShops — Grades 1 through 6. Usually meets the last Monday of the month from 5 to 7 pm. The next meeting will be January 31 and is ongoing through May.

There is no fee for either Children of Divorce or SibShops.
