Free First-Time Homebuyer Workshop
Free First-Time Homebuyer Workshop
DANBURY â The Bethel-based Connecticut Homeownership Center will be conducting an educational workshop for first-time homebuyers to be held on Saturday, January 22, from 10 am to noon, at the Ethan Allen Inn on Mill Plain Road.
The purpose of the Connecticut Homeownership Center is to offer guidance and support to the first-time homebuyer through community-based education and consumer advocacy. This free two-hour workshop is aimed at educating the first-time homebuyer on the financial benefits of owning vs renting.
Topics to be discussed include but are not limited to the relationship between interest rates and housing prices, the significance of tax savings and equity appreciation as factors in the case for ownership, the state of the current housing market in Connecticut, the availability of 100 percent no-money-down financing, the option of getting cash back at closing, the practice of negotiating for seller-paid closing costs, and the availability of mortgage financing for homebuyers with little or poor credit.
The guest speaker for this event will be Timothy P. Kennedy, real estate attorney and advocate for homebuyers throughout the greater Danbury and greater Waterbury areas. He lives and practices in Connecticut and understands the unique challenges faced by those in the market to purchase their first home as well as those who feel unable to purchase due to a lack of down payment funds or less-than-perfect credit.
