At Half-Staff

HARTFORD (AP) — Gov M. Jodi Rell announced Monday that both US and Connecticut flags in the state should be flown at half-staff this week.

In his weekly radio address Saturday, President Bush ordered US flags lowered to half-staff in honor of the victims of the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunamis. Whenever the national flag is flown at half-staff, the state flag is automatically lowered to half-staff.

Gov Rell had earlier requested that state flags be lowered to half-staff in honor of slain Newington Police Officer Peter Lavery.
