Boggs Hill Accident

Motorist Leo Richardson, 17, of 31 Osborne Hill Road, who was driving a 1992 Geo Prizm on Boggs Hill Road about 7:18 pm December 27, lost control of the auto and then struck a tree along the northbound road shoulder, police said.

Richardson was not injured, according to police. Police verbally warned him for traveling at a speed too fast for conditions.

 

Cellular Telephone

Sometime between 2:30 and 2:50 pm on December 28, someone pried open an office door inside KB Toyworks at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street , after which they stole a cellular telephone, police report. Police are investigating the case of larceny and criminal mischief.

Red River Lane

On December 29, sometime between 8 am and 5 pm, someone fired two pellets from a pellet gun at a residence on Red River Lane, police report. The pellets broke a bedroom window and damaged vinyl siding.

Police are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact them at 270-8888.

School Fencing

Motorist Michele DeLuca, 23, of New York City, who was driving a 2002 Honda Accord westward on Wasserman Way about 11:18 am December 27, lost control on the snowy road on a curve, went into a spin, struck a tree alongside the westbound road shoulder, spun again, and then collided with some fencing near the Reed Intermediate School, police said.

DeLuca was not injured. Police verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.

Queen Street Accident

Police report a two-vehicle accident on Queen Street, near the northern entrance to Newtown Shopping Village, about 5 pm December 31.

The collision involved a 1994 Volkswagen driven by Marles Rapp, 48, of 10 Winding Brook Road, and a 1992 Chevrolet driven by John Ferris, 44, of 33 Pole Bridge Road, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Rapp a written warning for improper passing on the right.

Ford Vs Deer

Motorist Arpad Matefi, 52, of New Milford was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer northward near 63 South Main Street about 5:18 pm January 1, when it collided with a deer, police said. The Ford carried three passengers. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Toddy Hill Crash

Motorist Heather Davies, 17, of 39 Pine Tree Hill Road was driving a 1997 Plymouth Breeze southward on Toddy Hill Road about 8:25 pm December 20, when she lost control of the vehicle on the snowy road and struck guard cabling along the right road shoulder, police said.

Davies was not injured. Police verbally warned her for traveling too fast for conditions.

Honda Rollover

Motorist Joshua Singer, 24, of 8 Hi Barlow Road was driving a 2001 Honda CRV southward on Hattertown Road about 10:11 pm December 26, when he attempted to stop at a stop sign before making a right turn onto Hi Barlow Road, but slid on the snowy road, police said.

The Honda then struck a wooden post and rolled over onto its passenger side, after which it entered a ditch and came to rest on its roof in a shallow stream, police said.

Singer was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Icy Road

Motorist Jeffrey Dinho, 26, of Danbury was driving a 1995 Dodge pickup truck eastward on Route 34, near Pole Bridge Road, about 7:53 am December 21, when he attempted to stop for a line of traffic, but slid on ice and struck the rear end of a 1994 Jeep Cherokee driven by Maria Bowen, 44, of 2-A Honey Lane, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Dinho a written warning for traveling at an unsafe distance.

Deer On Road

Motorist George Rockwell, 66, of 192 Brushy Hill Road was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry southward on Elm Drive about 6:30 pm December 30, when a group of deer entered the road from the Newtown Country Club golf course, police said.

Rockwell collided with one of the deer, police said. Rockwell was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Berkshire Road

Motorist Olivia Patchen, 52 of Carmel, N.Y., was driving a 2001 Honda Civic eastward near 98 Berkshire Road about 8:43 pm January 2, when the Honda entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound 2001 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Shahab Mohajerin, 52, of Oxford, police said.

Each vehicle carried two passengers. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported all six people involved in the accident to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.

Transported to the hospital were Patchen and Honda passengers Dianna Johnsen and Jacqueline Johnsen, both 15, and both of Carmel, N.Y. Also transported were Shahab Mohajerin and Nissan passengers Naghmeh Mohajerin, 31, and David Mohajerin, 2, both of Oxford, police said.

Police issued Patchen an infraction ticket for failure to keep to the right on a curve.

Chrysler Vs Saturn

Police report a two-car collision on Glover Avenue near Route 25 about 10:44 pm December 30.

Motorist Jaideep Sandu, 50, of 4 Glover Avenue, who was driving a 1999 Chrysler Sebring, was attempting to pull out of a driveway at that address to turn left onto Glover Avenue, as motorist Mark Meehan, 17, of 62 Head O’ Meadow Road was driving eastward on Glover Avenue, police said.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Sandu a written warning for failure to grant the right of way from a private driveway.

 

Honda Vs Ford

Motorist George Lacroix, 56, of 175 Mt Pleasant Road, who was driving a 2005 Ford, was waiting in stopped traffic on southbound South Main Street at its intersection with Meadow Brook Road at about 4:13 pm January 3, police said.

Southbound motorist Sean Smith 20, of West Haven, who was driving a 2001 Honda, attempted to pass the Ford on the right, but collided with it, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Smith an infraction for passing on the right.

Church Hill/Queen

Police report a one-car accident at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Queen Street about 7 pm January 3.

Motorist Melissa Heil, 19, of 9 Oak Drive, who was driving a 1997 Plymouth Neon westward on Church Hill Road, was making a left turn onto Queen Street, but due to reduced visibility during rain, Heil misjudged the turn and drove onto a median on Queen Street, striking a street sign and a pole, police said. Heil was not injured. Police issued her a written warning for making an improper turn.

Turning Traffic

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Church Hill Road at the entrance to the Blue Colony Diner at about 4:30 pm January 3, police said.

 Involved in the crash were motorist Laurie Hoyt-Jones, 43, of Thomaston, who was driving a 1999 Hyundai Elantra, and motorist Janice Butler, 38, of Southbury, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Hoyt-Jones a summons on charges of driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without automotive insurance, and making a restricted turn.

Honda Vs Pole

Police report that motorist Astley Lee, 55, of Bridgeport was driving a 1993 Honda Civic southward on Route 302, near Hattertown Road, in rainy conditions about 9:30 pm January 3, when the Civic went out of control, went off the right road shoulder and struck a utility pole. Lee was not injured, police said. Police issued Lee a written warning for making a restricted turn.
