Five-Mile Hike At Devil's Den
Five-Mile Hike At Devilâs Den
WESTON â The Nature Conservancy is offering a guided five-mile hike at Devilâs Den on Saturday, January 15, from 10 am to 1 pm, during the warmest part of the day. The eastern loop of the 1,746-acre nature preserve features historic ruins, Godfrey Pond, and evergreen laurel to brighten up the winter woods.
Den natural history guides Bob Eppinger, Charles Gereg and Peg Peterson will be the hike leaders. They will discuss some of the human and natural history at the preserve as hikers pass a charcoal mound, the ruins of an up-and-down sawmill, and the mysterious footprint that gave The Den its name.
Participants should bring water and a snack lunch to eat en route, and wear hiking shoes. Call The Den office at 226-4991 for reservations or directions. Devilâs Den is at 33 Pent Road.
