Pawthereum kicked off its “12 Days of Crypto Giving” campaign in December with a donation that hits close to home.

Pawthereum is a decentralized, community-run charity cryptocurrency project that gives back to animal shelters and advocates for the well-being of animals in need. On December 14 the animal welfare-focused crypto project made a $50,000 donation to CVHAS.

The organization’s donation was accompanied by an additional $25,000 from the family of Pawthereum team member Matthew Courchene-Roy, whose family knew several of the children who died on 12/14.

On December 14, the family visited Jenny Hubbard, Catherine’s mother and executive director of CVHAS, and the rest of the CVHAS team to honor and celebrate the work that is being done in Catherine’s memory.

Pawthereum Project Leader Nawzad Amiri said Pawthereum “was born out of the idea that cryptocurrencies can be a tremendous force for good in the world.

“When crypto communities come together, anything is possible,” Amiri also said. “We’re proud to kick off our 12 Days of Crypto Giving this December with the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary and help boost the amazing work they are doing in their community.”

The combined donation will directly support the CVHAS Senior Paw Project, an outreach program for senior citizens in Connecticut who sometimes face difficulty in caring for their pets for various reasons. The program currently operates in more than 12 towns and has helped provide more than 250,000 meals to pets in need.

It also helps hundreds of pets in need receive nutritional and medical care. Pawthereum’s donation will help the Senior Paw Project expand to as many as 10 additional towns in 2022.

The Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary was founded in my daughter’s memory and her love for all creatures, great and small. To receive such a generous donation ... affords us the opportunity to honor Catherine’s mission and help so many more animals in need, and for that, I am truly grateful,” said Hubbard.

Donating more than $300,000 since the project launched in October, Pawthereum has been busy forming friendships with animal welfare organizations around the world. Its 12 Days of Crypto Giving campaign helped dozens of species of pets and wild animals in more than 20 countries across five continents.
