“Richard Crafts Moved To Homeless Shelter For Veterans,” by Andrew Gorosko, published January 30, 2020. Richard Crafts, the former Newtown resident who has served a lengthy prison sentence for the November 1986 murder of his wife Helle, on January 29 was moved from the Isaiah House halfway house in Bridgeport to a homeless shelter for veterans, which is also in Bridgeport, as part of Crafts’s ongoing transition from prison life to a full release from custody. “Utility Company Beats Its Own Estimates,” by Nancy K. Crevier, published December 26. Beating its own estimates of nearly complete recovery from the Christmas Day outage by several hours, Eversource had Newtown/Sandy Hook customers down to just five without power by 2:45 pm on December 26. The three horse-related businesses at RedGate Farm on Poverty Hollow Road came together for a fun and friendly holiday decorating contest that took place on Saturday, December 19, in the late afternoon. “Former Resident Among Those Keeping Yale Cabaret Lit Through Pandemic,” by John Voket, published December 26. The Yale Cabaret may have been founded during the “Summer of Love” in 1968, but it took 2020 and a summer of pandemic proportions to drive the venerable Yale Cabaret from stage to screen as former Newtown resident Nicole Lang helped steer the organization through this uncharted theatrical conversion.
