Snapshot: Brett Radachowsky
Occupation: I’ve been in real estate and sales since I was 18 years old. I am a residential real estate broker specializing in Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield counties and also work area sales as a Lowe’s Exterior Project Specialist.
Family: I was born and raised in Danbury where most of my family still lives. I live here in Newtown with my wife, Alexandra.
Pets: We have two dogs, Bentley and Roxy. One is large and lazy, the other small and crazy.
How long have you lived in Newtown? I moved to Newtown in May of 2012. I bought my first home about one mile from where we are now and still own it as a rental.
What do you like to do in your free time? When I have down time I am running, cycling, or swimming. That, and if the weather allows for it, I’m out on the lake.
What is your favorite book? I’m drawn to books for investing, exercise, and self-improvement. Podcasts and audiobooks are more my speed. Currently, listening to “The TenX Rule” by Grant Cardone.
What is your favorite travel destination? My wife and I have been lucky enough to travel a lot, but I’d have to say that my favorite destination is to Vermont. Every October we make our trip and relax up in the mountains. I can honestly say if you’re looking for some of the best farm to table food and locally brewed beers, Vermont is the place to visit.
What is the best part about Newtown? I’d have to say the best part of Newtown to me, are the people. Compared to Danbury where I grew up, this is a small town. I know restaurant owners, grocery store managers, bartenders, brewers, all of my neighbors, and even random people that frequent Fairfield Hills.
What organizations are you part of in Newtown? I was a part of the Labor Day committee for a short time. I’m a part of The Newtown Young Professionals group and my wife’s nonprofit, Stockings4Smiles. It’s a tough year for any organization for sure, but if we got through 2020, then 2021 will be that much better!
Who has been the greatest influence in your life? The greatest influence to me has been my family and close friends. I’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by the same people my entire life. We have all gone through tough times, great times, and grown up. Seeing that it can be all right and to have support in choices we make takes fear out of the equation.
If you could spend the day with one person, who would you choose and why? I’d love to hang out with someone fun. Either Will Ferrell or Jack Black. I know that given what I do and read you would not have thought I’d say that, but being able to laugh all day and to see a different mind work would be great.
Who is your favorite musical artist? Foo Fighters hands down. I know some readers will challenge this, but I can’t think of many other bands that will go down as one of the best. To me, they are right up there with the Stones, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc.
What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given? “Sometimes it’s not what you say, but how you say it.” My takeaway from this has always been that when you need to tell someone something (good or bad) make sure you say it right, with the other person’s thoughts in mind. I also think Kung Fu Panda has some great advice, too, so what do I know?
What is something you cannot live without? I can’t live without going for a run. Sounds dumb to most, I bet, but it really is my time. It’s the only time I get to turn off the phone and shut the world out. I think that’s really important.
What is your proudest accomplishment? Not too sure here to be honest. My proudest accomplishments have yet to happen in my mind! That’s not to say I haven’t had anything I’m extremely proud of. This year I was honored to be the officiant at my best friend’s wedding. That was a great day. I’m still floored they entrusted me with that responsibility.
