Thelma L. Dudley

Quilter, Knitter,     Gardener, And Bird Watcher

Thelma L. Dudley, 80, a longtime resident of Newtown, died January 2 at her home. She was born October 8, 1925, in West Enosburg, Vt., the daughter of the late Clyde and Ruth (Thomas) Lavalla.

She was a bank teller for Union Trust Savings Bank for more than 40 years, and an active member of United Methodist church in Bethel, serving as treasurer. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening, and bird watching.

She is survived by a daughter, Cyndy Tucker of Honesdale, Penn.; one sister, Daryle Monroe of Danbury; six grandchildren, William Stewart and his wife, Sheila, of Pennsylvania, Nicholas Reyes of Danbury, Rebecca and Kate Tucker of Philadelphia, Samantha Saunders of Waterbury and Thomas Bruner of Honesdale, Penn.; and five great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Selena, Joscelynne, Ariana and Zurina. Mrs Dudley was predeceased by her husband, William J. Dudley; a daughter, Elinor (Dudley) Reyes; two brothers, Clyde and Cederic Lavalla; and one sister, Diane Plaut.

 A funeral service was held January 5 at the Green Funeral Home, Danbury. Interment will be held in the spring at Elmwood Cemetery in Bethel.
