Locks Of Love
Sisters Sydney and Jillian DiMartino recently donated their hair to the nonprofit organization Locks of Love, which provides hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 18 who suffer from medical hair loss.
Both girls attend Head Oâ Meadow Elementary School; Sydney is a second grader and Jillian a first grader. Their mother, Dina, commented that approximately eight months ago the family had a casual conversation about Locks of Love and its importance.
âThey couldnât stop talking about it and communicating to friends and family about Locks of Love and the powerful message of helping others with a haircut,â said Ms DiMartino.
On December 22, Ms DiMartino took the girls to A New Beginning hair salon in Bethel where stylist and Newtown resident Neri Zoto cut 11 inches of hair off of each girl, to be donated to the Locks of Love organization.
âThey had so much fun!â said Ms DiMartino. âMy daughters have learned valuable lessons about giving to others this year. Perhaps if we continue to inspire our children the world will be a better, more peaceful place.â
Sydney is a member of Brownie Troop 40 and has learned that she will earn a badge for her efforts.
