Lewis (Buddy) Hayden, Jr, 78, of Shelton, beloved husband of 54 years to Helen Onda Hayden, died December 29. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of Lewis B. and Mildred Hill Hayden.
Survivors in addition to his devoted wife are five sisters, Carol Amaral and husband, Mark, of Newtown, Barbara Freer of Shelton, Winifred Clark of Trumbull, Faye Honcharik and husband, Adam, of Monroe, and Marilyn Natlo and husband, Pat, of Milford; two brothers, Russell Hayden and wife, Ann, of Stratford and George Hayden and wife, Rita, of Shelton; a son, Scot Hayden and wife, Lorene, of East Haddam; a daughter, Joyce Blake and husband, Kevin, of Oxford; four grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Blake and Alex and Benjamin Hayden; and several nieces and nephews.
A resident of Bridgeport for 48 years, he moved to Shelton 30 years ago. Mr Hayden worked for Heppenstall and also Carpenter Technology, where he worked as a time study. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army with the Seventh Calvary Regiment, Troop E.
Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church ELCA on January 3 with the Rev Linda Kraft officiating. Interment was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, with military honors.
