Happy 2006

Family Fun Event — Newtown Youth Services will sponsor the First Annual Newtown Road Race and Kids Run on September 2. This will be a 5K race and also feature special road courses for youth. NYS is currently holding a Logo Design for Race T-shirt contest. It is open to all youth grades K through 12. Prize awarded to chosen artist. Anyone interested in volunteering for this event is welcome. For additional information call Roseanne Loring at NYS, 270-4335.

Parent Programs

Moms Groups

The next sessions begin in January and run for ten weeks.

Moms of Babies will meet Tuesday, January 24, from 10:30 to 11:30. The fee is $25.

Gym Time will meet on Wednesday, January 25, from 9:30 to 11:30 in the Edmond Town Hall gym. The fee for this group is $30.

Moms of Multiples will meet the last Friday of the month, from 10 to 11 am. The next meeting will be held on January 27 at the Newtown Methodist Church. There is no fee for this group.

The Hope And Support Group

This group meets on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. If you are a parent/guardian with questions or concerns about your child’s possible or confirmed involvement with substances, you are welcome to attend this group. Meetings are held at NYS.

Youth Programs

HSYAB — The next meeting will be held on Monday, January 9, at 2 pm in the high school cafeteria.

NYCAAP — This group will meet on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm at the high school.

SMAD — This group meets on alternate Wednesdays. The next meetings are scheduled for January 18, February 1 and February 15 in the middle school cafeteria.

WIRED — Meets on Tuesdays from 2 to 3 at the high school.

Children of Divorce — Meets the first and third Monday of the month from 6 to 7 pm. Meetings will be held on January 9, January 23, February 13, and February 27.

Sibshops — Meets the last Monday of the month from 5 to 7 pm. The next meeting is Monday, January 30.

All programs take place at Newtown Youth Services, 10 Glen Road, Sandy Hook, unless noted. Call 270-4335 for additional information.
