Education Connection Appoints New Director
LITCHFIELD â Education Connection announces the appointment of Dr Sharon A Bremner to the position of director of special education and related services. Education Connection is one of six regional educational service centers in Connecticut. The agency serves 30 member school districts and their communities, including Newtown School System.
Dr Bremner holds a bachelor of arts degree in special education from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford. She received a master of science in reading from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Hartford.
Her experiences include more than 25 years as a special education teacher and program coordinator with the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Retardation. Dr Bremner most recently held the position of transition coordinator for the state of Connecticut.
Dr Bremner is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the Council for Exceptional Children, Phi Delta Kappa, and Kappa Delta Pi. She is active in related professional groups including Torrington Chamber of Commerce and Torrington Collaborative Partnership Team.
Dr Bremner succeeds John Mongeau, who will retire after a 25-year career with Education Connection. Mr Mongeau will continue to serve the agency in a consulting capacity.
