Charter Commission
Members Sought
To the Editor:
On December 21, the Legislative Council appointed an ad hoc Charter Revision Committee to recruit, interview, and recommend candidates to serve on the proposed Charter Revision Commission. It is the intent of the appointed committee to complete the above tasks and have the Charter Revision Commission up and running no later than March 1 so that the full council will be able to turn its attention to the townâs 2006 budget.
Therefore, any elector in the town of Newtown, regardless of party affiliation, who has a sincere interest in improving our government so it can be more efficient and make the most effective use of our tax dollar, is invited to contact me.
At this time all that is required is your name, address, party affiliation, and availability for a brief evening interview. By law no more than one-third of the selected candidates may hold any other town office (CGS 7-190 (a)).
Please contact me as soon as possible at one of the following: 10 Beechwood Drive, Sandy Hook CT 06482 or 426-4396 or email: BJBorst22@ATT.net.
Sincerely,
Joseph E. Borst, Committee Chair
