Probate Judge Margot Hall Begins Final Term

Probate Judge Margot Hall raised her hand and promised to uphold the duties of her office for the last time Wednesday during a swearing-in ceremony. She was reelected in November. Placing her palm on the Bible she raised her right hand as Town Clerk Cynthia Simon performed the ceremony in the Edmond Town Hall’s historic Mary Hawley Room where municipal staff and Ms Hall’s family gathered.

Judge Hall has been the Judge of Probate since 1991 and will now serve a partial term to the fullest extent age will allow. A probate judge must retire at age 70.

Grandsons Nicholas and Brendan Hall were among the friends and supporters gathered to applaud Judge Hall as she lowered her hand. Also among those in attendance was Peggy Jepson, who will continue to serve as probate clerk.

With a tear in her eye, Judge Hall said, “I am really honored and looking forward to the next years.”

She continued, “I have enjoyed the job for the last [15] years and wish I could go on forever — this is home away from home.”

Aside from the chocolates, baked goods, and even champagne was a bright bouquet of flowers Judge Hall received from her husband, Robert Hall.
