Beatrice E. Brautigam

Norwalk Dance Instructor For Many Years

Beatrice E. Brautigam, 85, of Norwalk, wife of the late John J. Brautigam, died January 2 at Northeast Florida Community Hospice, Jacksonville, Fla. She was born in New York City on June 23, 1921, daughter of Jacob and Catherine Lichtenberger.

Surviving Mrs Brautigam are her eight children, Paul Brautigam of Newtown, Bonnie Sysko of Millersville, Md., Jack Brautigam of Seattle, Wash., Merry Davidson of Euless, Texas, Laurie McCahill of Jacksonville, Fla., Virginia Haggerty of Shillington, Penn., Joseph Brautigam of Bethel, and Donna Tagliavia of Tuscon, Ariz.; and a sister, Muriel B. Gerard of Winter Springs, Fla. Mrs Brautigam is also survived by 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

She married in 1945 and moved to Norwalk in December 1950 where she had her dancing school until she retired at age 82. Mrs Brautigam touched the lives of hundreds of local children and families during the numerous musicals for local churches and high school plays.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 8, at 10 am, in St Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow at St John’s Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, January 7, from 4 to 8 pm, at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk.
