RICHMOND, VA. â The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is exhibiting âSelections: 20th Century Latin American Art in the VMFA Collectionâ through March 13.
The exhibition features paintings, prints, photographs and sculpture by artists from the Americas and the Caribbean. Works by Fernando Botero, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Rafael Ferrer, José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera and Hemilce Saforcada span the decades from the mid-1920s through the 1980s in the VMFA permanent collection. The exhibition presents an array of styles including Art Deco, Social Realism, Mexican Modernism and Abstraction, while highlighting portraiture and printmaking techniques.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. â White Plains will be the site of an exciting new antiques show in Westchester County. The White Plains Winter Antiques Show will take place at the newly renovated White Plains High School, January 15â16.
The show will have an outstanding group of dealers who will be showing everything from fine paintings to Chinese furniture, Oriental rugs and estate jewelry. Included in the roster will be Michael Donovan of Nashua, N.H., showing fine wicker furniture and accessories; Zane Moss, New York City, exhibiting Nineteenth Century English furnishings and paintings as well as William Nickerson Antiques of Orleans, Mass., who can always be counted on to bring a wide range of reasonably priced period American furniture.
In addition, local dealers Marilyn Saland of Scarsdale will be offering Nineteenth Century Continental and American furniture and John D. Gould of Yorktown Heights will be exhibiting period American furniture and gilt frames.
White Plains High School is at 550 North Street. Show hours are Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm. For information 914-572-4132.

NEW YORK CITY â The Marbella Gallery, Inc, is exhibiting, through February 25, paintings from its own collection of artists who have achieved immense popularity for their personal, distinctive versions of nature.
These artists portrayed America in a more innocent time and have increasingly been coming under scrutiny by scholars and collectors who recognize their position in the context of American art.
Included in this exhibition are paintings by George Inness, A.T. Bricher, Robert Hallowell, Eliot Clark, A.H. Wyant, Leon Dabo, Samuel Rothbort, Hildegarde Hamilton, Joe Jones and others.

READING, PENN. â The Historical Society of Berks County will hold Sampler Discovery Days, May 20 and 21 and September 16 and 17, from 10 am to 2 pm.
The public is invited to bring antique Berks County schoolgirl samplers to the historical society to aid in ongoing research for an upcoming exhibit in 2006. Conservators and sampler experts will be on hand to offer advice on conserving sampler conservation.
