Deli Larceny
Police report they charged Big Y supermarket deli department employee Herminio Santana, 40, of 39 High Rock Road, Sandy Hook, with sixth-degree larceny about 9 pm January 4 after store security personnel reportedly saw Santana eating a sandwich without having paid for it.
Police released Santana on a promise to appear January 13 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the larceny charge.
Probation Charge
Police said they went to the Danbury Superior Court lockup on the morning of December 30 and served an arrest warrant against Dennis Rowell, 20, of Waterbury, listing one count of violation of probation. Rowell was scheduled to be present in court that day on the charge, police said.
VW Vs Deer
Police report motorist Juleen P. Hanigan, 52, of Bethel, who was driving a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta on Route 302 about 8 pm January 3, collided with a deer on the road, resulting in heavy front-end damage to the car. Hanigan was not injured, police said.
Church Hill Road
Motorist Daniel T. Wing, 71, of Kensington, who was driving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound on Church Hill Road about 4 pm January 5, was making a left turn into the Blue Colony Diner parking lot when he collided with an eastbound 1996 Ford Taurus driven by Paul Kaufman, 59, of Orangeburg, NY, police said. There were no injuries. Police gave Wing a written warning for making a restricted turn.
