A deep freeze in late December gave skaters a chance to lace up their skates and hit the ice at Ram Pasture's Hawley Pond during Christmas Week. Skaters shoveled off areas of the pond and skated with family members and friends. Some grabbed their hockey sticks and knocked the puck around. The ice melted during the final weekend of December but more cold temperatures are on the way in January so keep those skates handy.
