Painted Pleasures

C.H. Booth Library will present an exhibition of paintings by Bill Carney this month.

“My Pleasure: Paintings by Bill Carney,” will open in the Olga Knoepke Memorial Meeting Room of the library on Thursday, January 8. It will remain on view until January 29.

If it’s variety you’re looking for in an art show you will certainly find it in this exhibit. Mr Carney’s work varies from the whimsical paintings such as the one seen here to realistic works depicting nature and men at work and play.

He paints a wide range of subjects in a variety of mediums. While a subject is necessary for a painting, to Mr Carney the enjoyment comes from the painting process and the total involvement. Transparent watercolors is his favorite medium.

As a professional educator Mr Carney taught at Trumbull High School for 33 years. He is currently teaching enrichment classes at area schools in addition to teaching adults and children at his studio, The Artist’s Garrett in Bart Center in Monroe.

Mr Carney holds a BFA in art from SCSU and an MFA from the University of Bridgeport.

“My Pleasure: Paintings by Bill Carney” can be viewed during regular library hours: Monday through Thursday and Saturday, 9:30 am to 8 pm; Friday from 11 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from noon to 5 pm. The library, at 25 Main Street, can be reached at 426-4533 or visit CHBoothLibrary.org.
