Occupation: I am president and CEO of ThermaTool Group in New Haven. I have been with them for 15 years, and am responsible for six companies that serve the steel or automotive industry. I previously worked in the steel industry for six years. I graduated from Central Connecticut State University where I received a degree in finance and marketing.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown since 1986. Prior to that, I lived in East Hartford. I was raised in Suffield.

Biggest Change Seen in Town: Obviously, the building of housing, which is a real concern. Town government needs to balance business growth with housing growth. I believe the government needs to be restructured to handle the growth.

Family: My wife, Grace, and I have been married for 13 years. We have three daughters, Lauren, 10, and Jacqueline, 7, who attend St Rose School, and Emilia, 4, who attends the Newtown Congregational Co Op Nursery. My wife has her own business, selling heating and air conditioning equipment to contractors.

Hobbies: I play basketball, and am trying to learn how to play golf. My wife and I have been authentically rebuilding our old house that was built as two houses in 1760 and 1840. We’ve put chestnut floors down. It’s a labor of love. I also coach my daughter’s soccer team.

Favorite Books and Authors: I like fiction with details, such as by John Grisham or Tom Clancy. I also read many business periodicals and do crossword puzzles.

Favorite TV Show: I don’t have a lot of time for TV. I watch some sports and A&E.

Organizations: I belong to seven different industrial organizations, and am on the board of directors of three of them.

Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: When we lived in our first house on Lake Zoar, one of the fellows would water ski in a Santa suit. We also have seen 30 turkeys in the backyard of our present home.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Block Island. We go every year for two weeks. We also bought a cottage to fix up on Lake St Catherine in Vermont. It’s a really nice lake.

Personal Philosophy: Work hard. Think positive. Make the best of the way things turn out.
