‘Color’ Returning To

Lexington Gardens

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown has announced its annual “Color in January,” a major art show and sale, will return to Lexington Gardens, for nine days — Saturday, January 13 through Sunday, January 21.

SCAN presents the show to brighten the days of winter. The nursery and specialty shop is at 32 Church Hill Road in Newtown.

The show presents works exclusively by SCAN members. On view and for sale are oils, watercolors, pastels and graphics. Over 150 paintings will be hung to celebrate “Color in January.”

Each Saturday and Sunday an award-winning artist and teacher will demonstrate at 12:30 pm. Barbara Goodspeed of Sherman will demonstrate in oil on Saturday, January 13, and Richard Ochs of Newburgh, N.Y., will paint in watercolor on Sunday, January 14.

The following weekend Janice Baragwanath of Trumbull will demonstrate in watercolor on Saturday, January 20, and Kita Macon of Huntington will paint a pastel portrait on Sunday, January 21.

An opening reception will be held Saturday, January 13, from 2 to 4 pm, to which the public is also welcome. There is no charge for the show, the reception or any of the artist demonstrations.
