Beethoven For Four Hands
NEW MILFORD â A work for four hands and two pianos will be featured during next Yamaha Salon Concert, set for Sunday, January 21, at 2 pm, at Connecticut Conservatory of the Performing Arts. Conservatory faculty members Maxim Vladimiroff and Estelle Mackenzie will play Beethovenâs Symphony No. 1 in C Major, Op 21, as arranged for four hands by Hugo Ulrich.
In addition to the Beethoven, the program also includes Fantasia in F Minor, Op 103 by Franz Schubert and Sonata in D Major K.381 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Mr Vladimiroff was born in Sochi, Russia, and studied piano with Dmitri Serov and improvisation with Igor Brill. He graduated with honors from Gnessin College of Music in Moscow.
After moving to the United States in 1991, Mr Vladimiroff earned an MFA degree in music composition from the University of California at Irvine. He has won honors in composition and studied at La Schola Cantorum in Paris.
Ms Mackenzie holds a masters of music education from Hartt School of Music, where she also earned her bachelor of music degree, magna cum laude. She has played with Waterbury Symphony Orchestra and spent 12 years as accompanist to Connecticut Choral Society. She also taught music in the Shepaug Valley Regional School District for many years.
The Yamaha Salon Concert series occurs on the third Saturday of every month at 2 pm, and is free. The series is a celebration of Yamaha Corporationâs and Fryâs Westport-Fairfield Piano and Organâs sponsorship of the Conservatory.
