To the Editor:

“Honesty is the best policy.” Not sure where I learned that, exactly. Perhaps through the depth of my educational exposure to Washington and Lincoln. Perhaps from my ancestors and relatives, or from my teachers. Most definitely from my friends and peers growing up in this town.

I write this upon the passing of Jimmy Carter, an honest man. I hope that in 2025 we can all place a greater degree of importance on that virtue that he had mastered so well.
