To the Editor:

The Newtown Congregational Church, Newtown United Methodist Church, Suzuki Music School, and Connecticut Music Therapy jointly sponsored the Second Annual Benefit Concert Saturday, December 29, in the Newtown United Methodist Church. Over 100 people attended the candlelight musical event and reception supporting the Newtown Parent Connection, (an educational substance abuse program) and Families United in Newtown (FUN — a community recreational program for families in our area with special needs children, teens, and adults).

Many thanks are extended to this year’s outstanding support team: Hafez Taghavi, musical director; John Voket, production assistance; Jay Thomas, Master of Ceremonies; Maggie Alexander, stage manager; and awesome performers: Alexi Zingale (pianist); trombone quintet, Bryce Doherty (solo), Hayden Fletcher, Elizabeth Heller, Thomas Jensen, and Tim White; Violinists, Hafez Taghavi and Lindsey Jones; jazz group, Austin Iesu (trumpet), Larry Davis (drums), Richie Sadlon (tenor sax), Niles Spauldin (bass), Danny Toby (piano); vocalists, Brendon Fox, Karan Goodhue, Melissa Vitrella, Alisa Popovic, Madelyn Aug, Brittany Watson; and Eclipse Band, Nell Malyszka (vocals), Trish Keil (vocals), Matt Wilkie (vocals), Andy Lafreniere (guitar), Dick Neil (mandolin, guitar). Wow — what a lineup of talent!

Many thanks are extended to the Newtown National Honor Society Students that helped make the angel messages a success and the Technology Team supported by Charter Communications. You All Rock!
