Music To Their Ears

To the Editor:

The Newtown Parent Connection, Inc was honored to have been the recipients of the proceeds from the Concert Society Chamber Orchestra’s Eighth Annual Holiday Concert this past Sunday night at Trinity Episcopal Church. The evening was absolutely delightful — from the beautiful venue to the masterful direction of maestro Richard Serbagi, angelic voice of Maria Ferrante, and brilliant sound generated by Trinity’s choir and the orchestra’s talented musicians. The audience was awed by the artistic arrangement of instrumental and vocal pieces, and the concert punctuated the holiday season for all who were fortunate enough to have been in attendance.

Newtown Parent Connection would like to humbly thank Jim Morley and Richard Serbagi and all others who gave generously of their time, talents, or treasure to make the event possible: Our sponsors — Newtown Savings Bank, Union Savings Bank, People’s Bank, Hall & Savarese, PC, Studley, White & Associates, and the Richard Trifiro Family Foundation; Patrons — Mr and Mrs James T. Morley, Mr and Mrs Richard Sturdevant, Mr and Mrs Joseph DiCandido, Mr and Mrs Joseph A. Smialowski, Dr and Mrs George Miller, and the Hand Center of Western Connecticut, Drs Lionel G. Brown, John G. Lunt, and John Thomas.

A special thanks to Pastor Kathy Adams-Shepard and Ann Tabler of Trinity Episcopal Church for their gracious hospitality, and to the board of directors of the Newtown Parent Connection for their unceasing diligence and dedication: Temple Whitaker, Joan Ponsky, Rob Ryder, Roseanne Loring, Terry Laslo, and Christopher Lyddy. Finally, our heartfelt thanks for the “behind the scenes” efforts of our resident angel, Jim Loring, for his beautiful ticket and program designs.

With the proceeds from this concert, the Newtown Parent Connection, Inc will be able to continue offering quality services for those who are struggling with issues involving substances, and fulfill its mission, “To educate and empower the community in the prevention of substance abuse and to embrace families in crisis.” Please mark your calendars for the upcoming Parent University to be held Saturday, March 28. More information will be forthcoming.

Sincerely,

Dorrie Carolan and Donna DeLuca
