*SIDESHOW returns to Tuxedo Junction to open 2004 this weekend. Grady, Fred, Chris, Jay and John will be back in Danbury on Saturday, January 3. The guys also have shows this month at The Thirsty Turtle in Stamford (January 10), Stash’s in New London (January 17), Black Rock & Blue in Bridgeport (January 23), and January 30 at Shenanigan’s in South Norwalk (January 30).

In February the guys will head to Sports Bar in North Windham on February 6, Murphy & Scarletti’s in Farmington on February 7, Stash’s on February 20, and Sports Rock USA in Bristol on February 28.

*STYX is on the road, and returning for a full show at Foxwoods Casino’s Fox Theatre on February 27. Tickets will be going on sale next week, priced at $38.50 and $49.50. On-sale is Thursday, January 8, beginning at 8 pm. You can contact the theater’s box office at 800-200-2882. The current touring line-up is Tommy Shaw on vocals and guitars, James “JY” Young on vocals and guitar, Lawrence Gowan on vocals and keyboards, Todd Sucherman on drums, and Ricky Phillips on bass guitar and backing vocals.

*Tickets for JAMES TAYLOR, who plays Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday night (January 3), are still available ($75 and $110), as are tickets for ALABAMA’s April 2 show ($77 and $102).

*Highlights at Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den this month include CLARENCE CLEMONS’ TEMPLE OF SOUL on Friday and Saturday, January 9 and 10, and then DAVID CLAYTON-THOMAS and BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS on Sunday, January 11. Later this month the Den will host another return by JOHN CAFFETRY & THE BEAVER BROWN BAND on Friday and Saturday, January 16 and 17.

The shows in Wolf Den are always free, but seating is limited so get over to Uncasville early in you’re interested in any of these. Showtime is 8 pm for the shows mentioned here.

*I don’t know how I managed to miss this last week when I was doing my Year In Review/Good Things About 2003, but I did (managed to miss this, that is). I should have opened my list, of course, with the biggest best news story of all: The capture of Saddam Hussein!

Now THAT was some darn good news! My mind must have already been on vacation.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you… on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown, CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141.
