Mary Chabina Rusko

Mary Chabina Rusko, 83, of Newtown, formerly of Darien, died December 22 in Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Nicholas M. Rusko.

Mrs Rusko was born in Palo, Hungary, September 24, 1920, a daughter of the late Peter and Katherine Chabina. The family settled in Darien in 1929. For many years, she worked at the Darien Review in its newspaper and offset printing divisions. More recently, she volunteered with the sewing group at St John’s Church in Noroton, making bandages for Rosary Hill Cancer Hospital.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Nina Rusko and John J. Berger of Newtown and her son and daughter-in-law, Nicolas and Nancy Rusko of Rockland, Mass. She is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St John’s Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, at noon on Monday, January 5. Arrangements by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
