Getting Back To Basics
Getting Back To Basics
To the Editor:
My husband and I have worked for Julia Wasserman for seven months, tending and feeding her cashmere goats and three dogs, mostly for the late afternoon weekend shift.
When Julia asked me if I could work at the tree farm (Medridge Farm) with Cliff Kicher for the two weekends before Christmas, I didnât hesitate to accept her offer.
Since I work full-time cleaning houses, my regular Christmas traditions are done before and after work and also on the weekends.
They consist of baking 22 batches of cookies, making eggnog and lasagna, decorating the inside of my home, making my outdoor âfresh greensâ displays and cutting and decorating our tree.
You can imagine how frazzled I was during what we call âthe most happiest time of the year.â
From the first day of working at Medridge Farm to the last day it was open, it was very fast and furious at many times.
Thank God that Iâm full of energy!!
People came from as far away as Long Island, New Jersey, New York City, North Salem, N.Y., Norwalk, etc.
I canât explain how gratifying it was to see old friends, acquaintances, and camera laden families creating wonderful memories, simply by seeking and cutting down their Christmas trees.
Good cheer and pleasantries were abound!
Getting back to the basics was not only rewarding for all the âvisitorsâ but for myself as well.
Iâm looking forward to next yearâs extravaganza!!
Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Sharon Lucsky
