The public is invited for the next set of "Sunday at the Sanctuary" programs, on October 16. All ages can celebrate autumn with free workshops, yoga, pumpkin painting, nature hikes, and more, at The Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary, on Old Farm Road.

This month's offerings will open with Family Yoga at 9 am. Begin the day under the pavilion with Heather Morgado, certified yoga instructor, as she leads a family yoga session. Participants should bring their own yoga mat.

A 1 pm Linda Bowen, a DEEP US fish and wildlife rehabilitator, will lead "Bats 101." Ms Bowen will share facts and dispel some of the myths of these beautiful and misunderstood creatures.

Participants will follow a bat's life from tiny pup to adulthood, learn about the white nose syndrome that is threatening the species, and discover tips for preserving our remaining bat populations.

"Autumnal Botanical Arrangements" will be offered at 2 pm.

By pairing store-bought elements with autumnal treasures found in most back yards, Master Gardener Laura King will teach attendees how to create stunning autumnal displays for the season of giving. While caregivers create, children are invited to embellish spooktacular pumpkins.

This workshop is limited to 20 participants, and a $25 arrangement material fee is requested.

Then from 5 to 7:30 pm this month's programs will conclude with "Owl Prowl."

Ben Sonnenberg, from Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservatory, will be bringing Poppy the barn owl and Camo the Eurasian eagle owl to the Sanctuary. Participants will learn owl adaptations and natural history before setting out with wildlife educator Henryk Teraszkiewicz in search of wild owls that call the sanctuary home.

To register send e-mail to info@cvhfoundation.org and indicate which workshop(s) will be attended and the number attending.
