St Rose School To Host Spring Open House May 11

St Rose of Lima School as scheduled a Spring Open House event for Wednesday, May 11, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the school, located at 40 Church Hill Road, Newtown.

St Rose of Lima is a kindergarten through eighth grade school, ranked among the top 15 percent of schools in the country.

Attendees to the open house will meet student and parent ambassadors as well as teachers and Principal Sister Colleen Smith to learn about the many advantages of a Catholic education and the proven social, emotional, and educational benefits of a kindergarten to eighth grade environment.

St Rose of Lima School also offers pre-kindergarten, 3 year-old, 4 year-old, and Step Up to Kindergarten programs. An outdoor learning center equipped with a butterfly garden and solar panel station offer all school students hands-on experience with a variety of innovative projects.

"We are a faith centered community committed to academic excellence in an atmosphere that nurtures the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and moral development of each student," said Sister Colleen.

St Rose of Lima School is designated as a Blue Ribbon school of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. Nationally recognized as a recipient of the Gold Level Award in the Math Counts competitive program, the school is accredited by the New England Association of School and Colleges, is nut-free and has a fully integrated technology platform utilized by all grades across the curriculum.

In addition to its core academic offerings, students can partake in advanced math class as well as in Spanish and Mandarin language courses.  St Rose School also offers a sports program, as well as Mock Trial and Model UN teams. The school also offers theater opportunities for students in grades 1-8 culminating in a younger children's show in the fall and an upper grade musical in the spring.

The school also provides after school child care.

St Rose of Lima School also hosts "Welcome Wednesdays" on the first and third Wednesday of every month during the school year, between 9 am and 11 am.
