  • NMS Student Council Elected

    The Newtown Middle School held its Student Council elections on Friday, October 30, and by the end of the day the school's council president, vice president, treasurer, and spokesperson were announced.

    Candidates for president were John Godino, Adam Guerin, Rylee Harrell, and Pam Lalli. Vice president candidates were Sawyer Findley, Jordan Gomes, Rushil Jerfy, Anna Romano, and Nate Wheeler. Treasurer candidates were Richie Gairing, Catie Gregory, Remi Pimentel, and Evan Wologodzew. Spokesperson candidates were Tyler DiMartino, Ava Schwartz, Mikey Sereday, and Lauren Yoder.

  • NMS Student Council Works To Beautify School Grounds

    Members of this year’s Student Council at Newtown Middle School spent time after school on Monday, October 26, to rake, plant mums, and set up decorations as part of the group’s annual Fall Beautification Day.

    Nearly 30 students joined in the effort on Monday, and Student Council advisors oversaw the after school event.

    One group of students worked to put lettering in one of the school’s signs to read, “Fall into a good book, bring a friend.”

  • NMS Food Drive Collects For FAITH Food Pantry

    A joint effort by the Newtown Middle School’s Interact Club and its Student Council collected food items from March 23 to April 30 at the school to donate to the FAITH Food Pantry, a non-ecumenical offering for town residents located at St John’s Episcopal Church in Sandy Hook.

    The Interact Club also visited the FAITH Food Pantry on May 6 to donate the collection, tour the facility with food pantry Co-Chair Barbara Krell, and help sort the donated items.

  • NMS Student Council Elected

    Newtown Middle School’s 2014-15 Student Council officers were elected on Friday, October 10.

    Voting took place in classrooms after contenders for the four positions gave speeches in the middle school’s auditorium.

  • Newtown Middle School Student Council Collecting For WIN

    Food items have already started piling up for the Newtown Middle School Student Council’s food drive to collect for the Women Involved in Newtown’s (WIN) yearly Thanksgiving Baskets campaign.
