Paul Eric Allen, 85, a lifelong resident of Newtown, died peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family, on April 23.

He graduated from Newtown High School in 1949 and held a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Bridgeport. He was employed for ten years at Remington Rand Electric Shaver Division in Bridgeport, working on the design and development of components, particularly plastic parts. He went on to work for Woodstream Sporting Goods Co., actively involved in developing the battery-operated fishing reel. He then managed a small company, Thor Plastics, in Sandy Hook for two years, before starting his own business, Allen Molders, in 1969, and later Logic Devices, Inc, in 1976. Logic pioneered much of the auxiliary equipment used in today's plastics industry.

He was a founding member of the Newtown Jaycees Service Organization, and was honored by them with a lifetime membership in the USJCI Senate, Senator #1059.

He was a member of the Newtown Congregational Church, where he was previously in the choir and Men's Service Club.

His wife of 60 years, Dolores Suarez Allen; five children and spouses, Paul and Andrea Allen, Grace Terry Allen, Randi and Roderic Kiely, Linda and Joseph Villafano, and Susan and Robert Middlebrook; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; as well as many nieces and nephews, survive Mr Allen. His parents, Therese and Sigfried Allen; and four older brothers, Albert, Robert, George, and Charles, predeceased him.

Calling hours will take place Thursday, April 28, from 5 to 8 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A graveside service will take place Friday, April 29, at 11 am, at Newtown Village Cemetery, Elm Drive, Newtown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 344, Newtown CT 06470 and The Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, Newtown CT 06470.
