As school families began arriving, Newtown Middle School physical education teachers Ken Kantor, Matt Memoli, Michelle Fontaine, and Joe LaRosa, and Mr LaRosa's son Paul, were ready.

The group oversaw a Sports & Fitness Night on Wednesday, January 20, that began in the school's B Gym.

Students, friends, and parents used equipment in the school's fitness center, which had new flooring put down over the district's winter break.

The fitness center, the educators said, has been added to over the years, thanks to donations and efforts.

The evening included CrossFit exercises and team sports, like volleyball, which was played in the school's A Gym.
