NHS Sporting Events Postponed By Snow; Postseason Continues Saturday

Newtown High School's basketball games and gymnastics competition were postponed because of snow on February 5.Postseason Continues

The girls' basketball team's scheduled road game against New Fairfield, as well as the boys' home game - also against New Fairfield - have been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 10. Both games will tip off at 7 pm; the girls on the road and the boys at home, as planned.

In the meantime, hardwood competitors are slated to play games on Tuesday, February 9 - the boys at Masuk of Monroe, and the girls at home against Masuk. Both contests will also begin at 7 pm.

Newtown's gymnastics team was to have had a meet against Pomperaug of Southbury, Oxford, and Nonnewaug, but it will now take place on a date to be announced.

The gymnasts will participate in the South-West Conference championships, at New Milford High School, 388 Danbury Road, on Thursday February 11, beginning at 5 pm.

The postseason resumes on Saturday, February 6, as the defending SWC champion cheerleaders from Newtown High host the SWC championships, beginning at 4 pm. Also, the school's track and field teams are slated to participate in the conference championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center, 480 Sherman Parkway, New Haven, beginning at 5 pm. Newtown's dance team won the jazz and hip hop titles in the SWC championships on January 30.
