For the second year, Murphy’s Pub owner Mark Murphy wants to make sure everyone in town enjoys a Thanksgiving dinner. For that reason, The Second Annual Richard T. Murphy Thanksgiving Feast will be taking place at the pub, within Ricky Shopping Plaza at 71 South Main Street, next Thursday.

The table will open at 1 pm, November 22, and it will stay open, Mr Murphy said this week, “until everyone’s tummy is full.” Full turkey dinners will be served, including soft drinks, he said. “Anybody who’s lonely or down on their luck — everyone is welcome,” Mark said.

Generous friends and patrons have begun dropping off donations, he said, of everything from those coveted turkeys to fixings for sides. Additional food donations are welcome, but Mr Murphy is not looking for funds, he said. “We’d really like some side dishes, maybe a couple more turkeys, and then whatever we don’t have, we’ll buy ourselves,” he said.

Murphy’s served 55 Thanksgiving plates last year.

“Thanks to beautiful friends and neighbors; I couldn’t be prouder to be in Newtown right now,” he said. For suggestions or to coordinate food drop-off, call 203-270-1800 or 203-770-3042.
