Helga Hoag

Helga (Doehne) Richter Hoag, 85, of Sandy Hook, died on July 9 at her home, following a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Mrs Hoag was born in Danbury on November 27, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Katie (Steuding) Doehne. She grew up in Hawleyville and graduated from Newtown High School.

She married Gunther M. Richter and had three sons. They resided and raised their family in Brook-field. Later moving to Salisbury, Md., and after the death of Mr Richter, she married the late Ralph Hoag. After Mr Hoag's passing, she returned to Sandy Hook for the final years of her life.

Two sons Russell A. Richter and his wife, Diane, of Danbury, and Darrell L. Richter and his wife, Teddie, of Bethel; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister-in-law Viola Doehne of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews survive her.

Besides her husbands, her son, Paul D. Richter; two brothers, Harry and Ralph Doehne; and one sister-in-law, Elin Doehne predeceased her.

Private services and a gathering of family and close friends will take place at a later date.

The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
